About Stacey Makhanova:
I received my PhD in Social Psychology from Florida State University. As of August 2019, I am an assistant professor in the Psychological Science department at the University of Arkansas. My undergraduate degree is from Hendrix College in central Arkansas, and I am excited to be back in Arkansas and in the beautiful Ozark mountains.
I study social perception. In particular, I am interested in how motivation and physiological processes influence the way people perceive others, from close relationship partners to those we consider outgroup members. My research often involves people providing saliva samples. Click the other tabs for more information!
In my free time, I enjoy playing complicated board games, reading fantasy and science-fiction novels, and exploring new breweries. I am a fan of Survivor, still.
If you're wondering how to pronounce my last name, the K is silent: ma-HA-no-va.
